I intercepted this cell 30 minutes south from my house! I thought the hail core was already to the east because the sun was coming through a little in the west. It turns out it was still west of me! Found the gas station canopy just in time!

I believe a few stones were reported as being as large as tennis balls, maybe even baseballs. I couldn't find any quite that big, but saw vehicles with shattered windshields on the road as evidence that there were a few really big ones mixed in. This was a damaging storm!

BTW. This exact cell first formed in Iowa!!!! From birth to death it travelled 400 miles ( 650 km ). Talk about a long-track supercell!
