The Insane Cost of Crashing in F1
Crashing a Formula 1 car is very expensive. Over the past couple of races, the Williams Formula 1 team has been hit with a repair bill likely totaling over ten million dollars, as a result of just six accidents throughout the Mexican, Brazilian and Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Everything from front wings, to hydraulic systems, to differentials or engines... The numbers are astounding.
Over the course of the 2021 season, max Verstappen would rack up over $4,000,000 in repairs on his car alone, with more than half of that being the result of his rash with Lewis at Silverstone. But how is it so expensive? And why is it a bigger problem now then it ever has been before for teams to foot the bill?
