Windmills and Water Pumps for Livestock Water

Presented by Craig Runyon, Extension Resources Specialist, New Mexico State University

Records indicate that a windmill was erected near Jamestown, Virginia in 1621 in an effort to harness the energy of the wind. Photographs and drawings of windmills across the U.S. bring to mind the classic image of a farmstead and remind us of the value of windmills as a durable, efficient mechanical system that uses wind to lift ground water to the surface. This webinar presents an overview of the mechanics and applications of windmills for a variety of uses, including livestock watering systems.
