Jury Sees Hair & Taillight Damage On Karen Read’s Lexus SUV

Maureen Hartnett works at the Massachusetts State Police Crime Lab, and she testified in Karen Read’s retrial today (Wednesday, May 14, day 15) about DNA tests she did on Read's Lexus SUV.

Prosecutor Hank Brennan questioned her in direct-examination. This is the first part.

"I noticed there was some damage to the rear passenger area of the vehicle," Hartnett testifies.

She said she found a single hair on the back of the SUV.

Prosecutors say Read was drunk when she struck John O'Keefe with her SUV outside Boston Police Department Detective Brian Albert's home early on Jan. 29, 2022, and drove away.

Read's defense is that Albert and Brian Higgins, a federal ATF agent, killed O'Keefe and she's being framed as part of a broad Massachusetts law enforcement conspiracy.
