🚐 🌄 We started our vanlife journey 3 1/2 years ago. We built from an empty brand new 2020 AWD Ford Transit 350 traveling while we tried out our floor plans. Now we’ve been one year full time and have made plenty of updates on the road and at our home base.

🏡 During a longer stay over at the house, that we rent out to our kids, we had the opportunity to do some house and van maintenance and updates between renters.

✅ Latest update finished: The ceiling. We had installed tongue and groove pine wood sections three years ago. We wanted a very light interior in the small living space so I opted to go with classic white.

🪣 I had primed and painted wood projects many times successfully before, however, this time, the wood must have been somewhat green as sap came through in two places and after a year or so, the knots started to come through as yellow stains.

😜 Yuck! Well, I wasn’t going to pass up this opportunity to try again! Here’s hoping that the putty, extra coats of primer and paint will do the trick.

🧐 As a side note, you may have noticed that one of the curtain tracks at the ceiling is new. We believe we found the best choice for quality, aesthetics, and ease of use in this aluminum curtain rail. The white plastic rail is more quiet and can be bent to any shape, but it twisted on our ceiling that is not level so we didn’t like the look.

🪟 We use two separate rail sections to hang our curtains for a privacy partition to the compost potty box seat and inside shower area. Both of these come together for another use in giving a quick privacy curtain and insulating barrier to the cab area and slider door.
