Meaning :
This Mantra represents the ultimate reality and divine consciousness. " Shri Santoshi Mahamaye": the mantra praises Goddess Santoshi, addressing her as "Shri" (a respectful prefix) and "Mahamaye" (the great illusion or divine energy). It acknowledges her greatness and power. "

Santoshi Mata (संतोषी माता) is viewed as a manifestation of Durga. She is the Goddess of joy and satisfaction. Believed to be the daughter of Lord Ganesha, she is a kind-hearted form of Goddess Durga, who is pure and gentle. She is worshipped in many parts of the country and also abroad. Santoshi Maa Vrat Katha is observed for 16 consecutive Fridays, observing Santoshi Maa Vrat Katha leads to peace, prosperity, and fulfillment of wishes. Friday fast/Vrat is addressed to propitiate the planet, Venus. However, the chief deity of the puja is Mata Santoshi. The objective of this Vrat Katha is to ensure the happiness and welfare of every member in the family.

Chakra - Sahashara Chakra is balanced by performing Goddess Santoshi Mata puja. Chakra is seven centers of religious energy in the human body. Chakras are the circular vortexes of power that are situated in seven different points on the spinal column, and all the seven chakras are related to the different organs and glands within the body. These chakras are responsible for balancing life energy.

Planet - Rahu is associated with Goddess Santoshi Mata. According to the Vedic astrology, all the nine planets in your horoscope (Kundali) affect the course of life i.e. marriage, career, health, finances etc. The movement of these planets in the horoscope forms yogas or doshas (negative influences). Due to these Navagraha doshas, people face various obstacles & hindrances in their life. In order to minimize and negate the malefic doshas or malefic influence of these planets, we perform various Pujas & Yagnas.

Friday or Shukrawar is dedicated to Mother Goddess-Santoshi and the planet Venus or Shukra. Friday fasts are also done to please Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth). Venus is believed to provide wealth and joy. If worshipped with purity and full devotion, Santoshi Maa fulfills all the desires of the devotees. This fast is generally observed by ladies to please Santoshi Maa.
This fast is observed from sunrise to sunset and white color is considered important on Friday. So, people wear white clothes after taking bathe. Bengal gram (chana) and jaggery (gur) is offered to the Goddess on this day. White colored flowers and rice is offered during prayers. Meal is taken once in the evening and it consists of white colored food or dessert mainly kheer or payasam. It is mandatory to avoid any sour food items. Shukrawar Vrat Katha is also recited in the evening.
