Chris Mackowski is the author of "Grant's Last Battle: The Story Behind the Personal Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant." He talks about Grant's financial ruin at the hands of unscrupulous business partners, his terminal throat cancer diagnosis, and his decision to write his memoirs as a way to support his family. Mr. Mackowski is editor in chief of the "Emerging Civil War" blog and he spoke at their spring symposium.
