Today, Australia’s energy system is failing. The ideological push for variable renewable energy is destroying our economy, along with too many communities throughout Australia. Nuclear energy presents a path forward for Australia’s future energy system.

In June, Robert Parker, an engineer with forty years’ experience and a Masters degree in Nuclear Science, was due to present his views to the Newcastle Branch of Engineers Australia.

However, when the head of the Climate 200 political lobby group and chief backer of the Teals, Simon Holmes a Court, heard about this he demanded it be cancelled. Engineers Australia relented.

This is cancel culture writ large.

Since 1943, the Institute of Public Affairs has always stood for freedom of speech, hosting Robert so he could finally deliver his cancelled presentation is in line with this core belief.

The IPA has led the debate on the need for energy security in Australia – one thing is for certain; the future of our energy system needs the greatest possible debate.
