WHAT'S UP Y'ALL!!!!! For the past half year, Addis and I have been planning what has now become the Inaugural Black Ivy Vacay. We wanted to create a space for Black Students in the Ivy League to network, connect, bond, and making amazing memories. However, instead of waiting until after we graduated, I insisted and lead the charge to make this happen during our senior year. College has had many highs and lows for me, but I was determined to make this trip an unmatched high.

Addis and I spent hundreds of hours sending out invitations, reserving a villa, working alongside a wonderful travel agent, my aunty Viv, securing sponsorship, organizing activities, covid-19 testing, etc. while being a full time student and YouTuber. Addis, being my rock and support system the ENTIRE way and we stopped at nothing to ensure that this trip was seamless and successful.

On Jan. 5th - 8th, 2022, our plan came to fruition as 30 Black Ivy League Students traveled to Akumal, Mexico. Our hard work was more than worth it, and to be able to be in the presence of 29 other current and future world changers, who looked like me, was an incredibly beautiful, invaluable, and motivating experience! I legit could talk for hours about the highlights and my love for my new found friends. Throughout college I dealt with bullying and hate from many of my peers. This group made me feel accepted, loved, and excited to be apart of such a wonderful community again.

While this trip was a success, I would be remiss to not thank the wonderful people that made it happen, starting first and foremost with my selfless boyfriend, Addis. Without his love and support for my never ending new ideas, coupled with his persistence and care, there would be no Black Ivy Vacay. I am forever grateful and in love with you Addis Boyd. I’d also like to thank our travel agent Vivenne and TourHero who worked endlessly to make sure that this trip was logistically smooth and undoubtedly fun! Thank you as well to my family and Nia for your support along the way. Lastly, thank you to my 28 new friends that trusted Addis and I. You took a crazy chance to join this trip led by this Penn Black girl to Mexico. You all have brought me joy and created memories that will never be forgotten! I can’t wait to plan the next BIV so we can all continue to work hard to chase our dreams, turn up together, laugh, support, and love one another.
