Imagine, if you will, a track that was literally a portion of a motorway with two hairpins joining it up. That's AVUS, a forgotten German track firmly in the shadow of the Nurburgring and Hockenheim.


But it's at this track that 'that German government' used to show off German engineering, as well as having cars hit nearly 240mph in the late 30s, faster than any car had ever gone at Le Mans or Indianapolis.

So that got me thinking: it'd be the perfect place to see how fast the stock Kunos F2004 could go in a straight line if you zeroed the wings and lengthened the gears. What is the actual VMAX of an F1 car? Let's find out!
