The Death of Cinergi Pictures
In the late 1980s, The Walt Disney Company was thriving thanks to the formation of its "Touchstone Pictures" and "Hollywood Pictures" divisions. Looking to expand its film studio even further, Disney struck a distribution deal with Cingeri - an indie production company founded by former Carolco head Andrew Vajna. Through his partnership with Disney, Vajna dreamed of achieving international blockbuster success. However, a rapidly changing film industry, along with skeletons from Vajna's past, would ultimately lead to Cinergi's downfall.
